Debbie oversees the Retirement & Financial Planning (R&FP) team which provides unbiased financial planning services and tax intelligence to advisors and their clients. Debbie Wong joined Raymond James in 2004 as the Tax Reporting Manager in Operations and then transferred to the Private Client Solutions department in 2013. Debbie proactively responds to tax queries and guides clients towards practical solutions for their tax issues. She has expertise in Canadian and U.S. personal tax, issues affecting U.S. citizens, cross-border tax (immigration and emigration), and the taxation of investment securities, including corporate actions. Debbie also authors Tax Flash bulletins to summarize legislative tax changes and federal and provincial budget announcements, as well as other tax-related client reference materials. She works in collaboration with the R&FP financial planners and internal legal experts as part of Raymond James’ comprehensive wealth solutions to set clients on the path to meeting their life goals.
Prior to joining Raymond James, Debbie gained 10 years of experience working in public practice Chartered Accountancy (CA) firms. Debbie was a tax manager at Ernst & Young Vancouver specializing in individual expatriate relocation and cross-border tax planning and compliance. She spent her public practice articling years at a medium-sized CA firm handling financial reporting and tax compliance for small business corporate clients and their families. Debbie’s background in cross-border tax provides unique value to advisors with US citizen clients and for clients who no longer have a simple Canadian-only tax situation.
Debbie obtained her CA designation in 1998 and obtained her business degree (BBA) from Simon Fraser University in 1996. She also completed Parts I and II of the Canadian Institute of Chartered Accountants’ In-Depth Tax Course. Debbie is a member of the Chartered Professional Accountants of British Columbia. Debbie has also been a past member of the Investment Industry Association of Canada (IIAC) U.S. Tax Committee, Tax Reporting Committee, and has been active on other ad hoc IIAC working groups to advocate the interests of the financial services industry and investors. She represented the IIAC in discussions with the Canada Revenue Agency in Ottawa to protest the revised Form T1135 foreign reporting form. Debbie is a current member of the Raymond James Canada Foundation Advisory Committee which provides grants to charitable causes. She has been quoted in the Investment Executive and Advisor. ca, and has appeared as a guest speaker on The Wealthy Life.
Senior Trusts & Estates Counsel, Private Client Solutions
Janet Mason is Senior Trusts & Estates Counsel with Raymond James Ltd. She identifies strategies and potential considerations for high net worth individuals, and creates and delivers informative and entertaining presentations for Raymond James advisors and the public.
Prior to joining Raymond James in 2017, Janet was with a competitor where she successfully developed a similar role and, in the last year of her tenure, was responsible for her team’s process, professional development and deliverables. She regularly collaborated across divisions and led a special operations project involving various departments in Canada and the US.
Janet was one of less than ten in her Osgoode Hall Law School graduating class to achieve a specialized degree in litigation, dispute resolution and the administration of justice. Janet was also one of only 22 people in the province selected to complete articles by way of clerkship with the Ontario Superior Court of Justice. She was called to the Bar in 2006 and began her career as a litigator in private practice where she remained until 2014. Her focus was on business law and trusts and estates law. Janet has been published nationally on various legal topics and she has also taught law.
She acquired an extensive business background in the private sector prior to law school and has been an entrepreneur. Janet is a member of the Law Society of Ontario and the Canadian Bar Association.

Uriah Kane is a Tax & Estate Planning Specialist with Raymond James Financial Planning Ltd. Uriah’s central role with the firm is to provide advanced tax and estate planning solutions using a broad range of different insurance-related strategies. His attention to detail, ability to communicate, and desire to be of service to clients are all hallmarks of his professional practice.
Uriah was born in Duncan BC, and graduated from Mount Royal University in Calgary with a Bachelor’s Degree in Policy Studies (a multi-disciplinary focus in Economics and Political Science), with a minor in Spanish, in April 2003.
In 2004, Uriah decided to pursue a career in financial services based on his keen interest in finance, and estate & tax planning. In addition to his 4-Year Bachelor’s Degree, and since joining the industry, Uriah has successfully completed his Life License Qualification Program (LLQP), Exempt Market Product (EMP) curriculum, Compliance Officer (CO) training, and Canadian Investment Funds course. In addition, Uriah also holds the esteemed Certified Financial Planner (CFP), & Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) designations.
Away from the office, Uriah also offers his time and expertise as an Advanced Case Study Grader with the Business Career College, and their Capstone Course, which is a mandatory curriculum requirement for candidates working towards their Certified Financial Planner (CFP) designation.
Outside of work, Uriah is actively involved in a number of administrative roles with his church, and volunteers his time in the community as an Executive Director with the BC Thanksgiving Food Drive. For fun, Uriah enjoys playing golf, tennis & squash, participates in men’s league basketball, and enjoys spending time with his wife and three daughters in the outdoors.
